John LaCombe

It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of John LaCombe who died peacefully at his home in Porter Ranch surrounded by family on April 14th. Always a warrior, John fought cancer valiantly for more than five years, and ultimately made the brave decision to spend his final days with family sharing his unparalleled wit, charm and love with the people he cared for most. His daughters, wife, sister, nieces, grandchildren and other loved ones each received an unbelievable gift, spending quality time with such a remarkable man destined to make his last moments memorable, magical and perfectly extraordinary. John was born on April 26, 1950 to John and Dorothy LaCombe in Oconto, Wisconsin. While always having an appreciation for the small town he grew up in, John was destined to head west to Los Angeles as a teenager. It was there that he started a family, raised daughters Shelley, Erin and Melissa, and began a career at Kaiser Permanente that would continue to bless his family until he retired after nearly 50 years. In 1983, John married Anna Scarpelli, and joined a family that took him in as their own. John and Anna would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on April 16th. In addition to his career in healthcare administration, John had a keen eye for innovation holding two United States patents. With a flair for writing, drawing and photography, John's artistic side saw little boundaries. He was a soulful artist, avid golfer, music lover and devoted Christian. There is no doubt he has not missed a heavenly tee time yet, and is doing his best James Taylor impression while sharing a glass of red wine among the friends and family he lost along the way. Cheers to a man loved by so many, and who will be missed for a lifetime by his enormous fan club. John is survived by his wife Anna, daughters Shelley Bowen (Ed), Erin LaCombe and Melissa LaCombe, grandchildren Peyton, Walker, Violet, Eavan, Logen, Colin and Brendan, sister Joanne Young and many beloved nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, June 3, at 10:30am at Shepherd Church in Porter Ranch, CA.
